ENERGY STAR certified buildings save energy, save money, and help protect the environment by generating 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions and using 35 percent less energy than typical buildings with no sacrifices to comfort or quality. The EPA sets strict energy performance standards to earn this certification based on weather-normalized source energy use that considers occupancy, hours of operation, and other key metrics. Energy and water use, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions must be measured, tracked, and verified by a third-party licensed professional architect or engineer.

Keola La’i General Manager
At Keola La’i, we worked diligently to ensure the safety of our residents and guests throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than attempting to create our own standards for disinfection, we felt it would be in the best interest and safety of our Keola La’i family, to seek expert guidance. By following guidance from ISSA©, the leading trade association for the cleaning industry, we enrolled in the GBAC STAR™ accreditation process.
GBAC STAR™ is the gold standard for cleaning best practices. The GBAC STAR Accreditation Program is performance-based and helps facilities establish a comprehensive system of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention. The program relies on GBAC’s comprehensive training, which teaches the proper protocols, correct disinfection techniques, and proper cleaning protocols for biohazard situations like the novel coronavirus. The GBAC STAR™ accreditation ensures that correct work practices, procedures and systems are in place to prepare, respond, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.
Our commitment is to stay uncompromising in our approach, to promote a healthy environment that is safe for residents and visitors alike.
